Big Mouths

This is my second blog post in a row on the theme of “Big Mouths” but I’m continually surprised and dismayed by celebrity people who regularly blurt out inappropriate and hurtful comments. Kevin O’Leary, one of the Dragons from the hit CBC TV show “Dragons’ Den”, is a perfect example of another celebrity who suffers from verbal diarrhea. This week, Kevin criticized an entrepreneur who generously donates a percentage of his Waterless Car Wash sales to the American Wells Fund (a project that builds water wells in Africa). Of course, Kevin is only interested in making money so the thought of “giving back” is a foreign concept to him. You can view the entire episode by clicking on the following link (The Waterless Car Wash is the last product featured on the attached video).

After mocking and lambasting the entrepreneur on national television, Kevin offers the owner of the Waterless Car Wash an investment deal. Does Kevin honestly think anyone is going to want to work with him as a business partner when he doesn’t know how to shut his big mouth? I certainly wouldn’t want to work with Kevin O’Leary even if he offered me millions of dollars in investment for my business, Tail Wags Helmet Covers.

By the way, if you’d like to purchase some of the Waterless Car Wash product, it’s available in Canadian Tire stores across Canada.

What about you? Would you work with someone like Kevin O’Leary who is routinely condescending towards others?

  1. Sometimes I wonder if that’s part of their on-air persona. If it isn’t, I certainly would NOT want to work with someone like that–investment or not!

When does your latest trip to that show air? :)

He’s so arrogant. I would not want to work with him. Period. But I’m really looking forward to seeing you on the show.

I thought Kevin O’Leary’s comments were arrogant and rude. His self-centred approach to business wouldn’t fly with me either, Karyn. I don’t think we’ll be seeing Kevin on The Secret Millionaire anytime soon!
